Proofreading
The purpose of Proofreading is to put the final polish on a manuscript. It is always performed on the final draft after it has been edited, and before it is submitted or sent to the printer for printing. When proofreading, I will review your manuscript for spelling, punctuation, typographical errors or incorrect usage. Proofreading is never done on an unedited manuscript. My fees for proofreading are typically one half (1/2) cent per word but may vary due to complexity of the subject or specialized knowledge required.
Testimonials"I've used Dennis for countless short stories, and he's proofed every novel I've released so far (5 and counting). He's compassionate, has an awareness of many things (a worldly experience) which has proven to be very helpful. He's been a wonderful addition to my release team."
~Kari Holloway I stumbled across Dennis Doty’s name in a Facebook group named Fiction Writing. My first book had already been edited, and I was looking for someone to proofread it one last time before I published. I spent hours paging through that page, looking for someone trustworthy. Thankfully, at the recommendations of others, I reached out to Dennis.
Not only did he offer to proofread that first novel, he also offered to edit it at a reasonable rate as my first editor did a crummy job. My book went from a disaster into something I am really proud of. A year and a half later, Dennis has edited all four of my novels. He is thorough, professional, reliable and timely. He explains why things need to be changed, and I enjoy each and every one of his comments he makes on my novels. After each edit, he sends it back with a message of what he liked, and what I need to work on for the next novel. His feedback has helped shape me into the writer I am today. Sherry Tschida |
